Have you ever had a photo grab you & leave you speechless? Bring back a memory? A photo that you just can’t stop looking at?
This is that photo for me. Josh took it the other day just playing around, and I found it while editing some head shots that were on the same memory card. At first I skipped over it, but then something made me go back to it and really look at it.I mean, at first glance, it’s a selfie, right? But there are so many things in this picture that I hold dear. So many memories all in one picture!
There’s my husband & my daughter. She’s looking up to him, grabbing onto his leg. She really looks up to him, and he’s a fantastic father to her. He’s holding a camera, which is something I also love– photography! That black car parked on the street was the first car I ever got. My dad bought it for me after I turned 16. The hope was that it would last me through high school, maybe even college. 12 years later, it has over 320,000 miles on it and is still truckin’. It looks quite pitiful and we can’t drive it over 45mph, but I love that car.
You can also see our front yard & some of the pictures in our house. I’m kind of a weirdo and am in love with my house. It’s not the biggest house on the block, and we barely have half of it decorated, but I love it. It is our home and where we’ll raise our daughter. It is an amazing blessing that I don’t take for granted.
On the left hand side you can see a purple sippy cup. To me, that is my motherhood experience all summed up into one object. Eating, drinking, and digestion have always been struggles for our little girl and one of the toughest things I’ve come up against in motherhood thus far. As frustrating as it’s been, I’m thankful that that is the hardest we’ve had it. We are blessed.
Behind the sippy cup is a card from a friend. I don’t easily let people in & spent most of the last decade avoiding strong friendships. Now, I not only have strong friendships, but I have many of them. I’ve grown a lot as a friend, too. This particular card came on the same week that I sent a postcard to that friend. We sent them without realizing the other person had done the same! I am blessed.
And finally, the card is sitting on a piano. Not just any piano, but the one that my husband learned piano on. If you’re not aware, he is a crazy talented musician in addition to his video talents! When he was three, his grandfather let him start playing around on this very piano. And now we have it in our living room for our little girl to learn on. How incredible is that?
So yes, a photo really is worth a thousand words, or at least 500. 😉 I could go on and on but I’ll spare you the full thousand. Now I want to know what photo leaves you speechless!
