Danielle’s Bridal Session | Christopher Newport University

Bridal sessions are the most often overlooked part of a wedding.  They’re not very high on the priority list for many, and it’s easy to think “Oh we’ll just get pictures of the dress on the wedding day.”  But oh they’re amazing!!  It’s like a sneak peek of your wedding day.  As the bride, you’ve been planning and doing dress fittings and scouring Pinterest for the perfect hairstyle… and this is where it all starts to come together.  You spend the day getting pampered, hair and make-up trials, and then you slip on your wedding dress with your mom or best friend there and go to a gorgeous location for a glamorous photo shoot.  We did these at Christopher Newport University and every single student we passed stopped Danielle to tell her how stunning she looked!  Let’s be honest, she’s gorgeous every day of the week, but having strangers tell you that is just a perfect confidence booster.

At the end of the wedding this past weekend, I was chatting with Danielle’s mom as she packed up at the reception.  She specifically mentioned how glad she was that they did the bridal session.  It was relaxing, fun, and a special time to get all those nervous and emotional moments out before the wedding day!

I’m not an overly emotional person, but at the end of Danielle’s bridal session, I definitely started getting misty eyed.  We moved to Virginia her senior year of high school and did her senior portraits back in the day.  She was one of our first clients here and now we’re already at her wedding day (it was this past weekend!).  She used to hang out at our apartment and share her latest high school struggle, and the day we found out we were pregnant we did a happy dance before heading to her high school choral concert.  And little did we know that little baby would end up being the flower girl in her wedding!
