Kelly + Nick | Colonial Heritage Wedding, Williamsburg, VA

Kelly + Nick were high school sweethearts and dated for 8 years before tying the knot last month! Kelly said she always needed help in geometry class and Nick helped her out. It turns out, he was so willing to help because he thought she was pretty!

I agree, Nick… Kelly is gorgeous! And after 8 years, different colleges, and spending summers working at the same summer camp, they are still together and stronger than ever. Patience is definitely their strong point, as they were engaged 2.5 years! And that definitely reflected in their wedding day. These two had a super laid back, spread out timeline. They weren’t rushed for anything, and they truly soaked in every magical moment.

Can I just turn into photographer mode and say that I adore when couples choose not to be rushed on their wedding day? It’s all in the planning, and it really helps them to enjoy their day to its fullest. They did a first look, took all their pictures before the ceremony– even family photos! Then after the ceremony, they relaxed with their bridal party and immediate families during cocktail hour. We took them out for a few sunset photos as guests filtered into the reception, and then they danced the night away, enjoying each moment. Throughout the day they got so much time together, and isn’t that just awesome for your wedding day?

At the end of the night they did something I’ve never seen at a wedding before! As their guests left for a sparkler exit, they did one final dance, just the two of them. It was such a cool idea, and I love that it wasn’t for any other reason than that they wanted to enjoy that moment together.
