Taylor-Lindy Family | Boston, Massachusetts

Remember how we spent a month in Boston in July?  This family was our secret sauce– the ones that held us together when we were falling apart.  And yet, we never met until July 5th.  You see, these four volunteer their home for families to stay in while our children are at the hospital.  And they do it with such grace, and such giving hearts!  They volunteer with Hospitality Homes, which is “a nonprofit organization that provides short-term housing in volunteer host homes for families and friends of patients receiving medical care in the Boston area. [Their] services are free of charge and are made possible by the generosity of [their] volunteer hosts and supporters.”  The direct quote was taken from their website.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a blessing this was.  This was our second stay with a host family.  In March, we stayed with an awesome and sweet family for 5 days.  We got to visit with the wife during this most recent visit, too!  While not required, we give a donation to the organization with each stay to make sure the organization keeps running.  Otherwise our stay in Boston would have easily cost $4,000+ just in hotel costs.  Instead they request a $25 donation per night.  Can you believe that?!  At any rate, the small donation goes to the organization to keep things running.  The Taylor-Lindy family just does this out of the kindness of their hearts.

Hanging out with them was awesome.  It’s neat to peek into a family life in a different area of the country.  And it was cool because our kids were all the same ages.  The kids were just like their parents, too!  As the parents were showing us around and offering all their amenities, the kids were sharing their toys and encouraging our kids to play with them.  It was precious, and so wonderful.  We are incredibly thankful!  I was glad we got a chance to do some family photos.  They had canvases all over their house of wonderful family moments, and I love knowing that they will love these pictures, too!
