We like living life to the fullest
Lydia + Joseph had one of the most fun weddings we’ve ever been to, and maybe that’s because the two of them were so infectious with their laughter and smiles. If there’s one thing we want you to take away from your wedding day, it’s that it should be as fun as possible. They had an epic array of donuts (which we’re finding to be a theme with our couples, and we love it!), amazing details, and all the love and laughter.
There were a ton of beautiful details that were created and implemented by Lydia and her family. Lydia’s mom and dad made the wooden heart sign that was at the front gates of James River Country Club. Lydia painted and designed the invitations and RSVPs, and her mom painted and did the calligraphy for the shell place cards.
These two met through their church. They’d both been attending for over 10 years, but never managed to cross paths. Introduced by his cousin, they dated for about 6 months, and Joseph proposed to Lydia on the moat wall outlook at Fort Monroe. He organized a surprise engagement party the night he proposed with all of their family and closest friends. Now that’s love!
Also, let’s talk about timeline for a minute. Their timeline was a DREAM. At one point early on, things were running behind, but we made up the time with no issues, and they actually had all their bridal party photos done before the ceremony. Yes– you read that right– ALL of them! So after the ceremony, they relaxed, did some family portraits, a few more couple portraits at their request, and then enjoyed their guests. We even added in tons of extra family portraits just because we had time and their families were excited! I love timelines like this because it means that important photos are taken care of before guests arrive, and then quality time is spent with their guests instead of posing for pictures! We weren’t rushed at all, and the focus of their day was truly on them instead of rushing around for photos. 🙂
