My parents were both military kids who met in Hawaii, got married on Hickam AFB, and moved to my hometown, where they’ve stayed in the same zip code for 41 years!  I grew up around the American Legion, but my military knowledge was extremely limited when I moved here 3.5 years ago.  I’ve been learning slowly, so when I was asked to photograph a retirement ceremony, I asked a million ridiculous questions because I was terrified of embarrassing myself!

Thankfully, they were very welcoming & appreciative to have me there, and the ceremony was wonderful.  It was the second one I’ve ever been to, and I just love how even though I didn’t know either one personally beforehand, I left feeling like I knew them so well!  I’m excited for this family & the next chapter of their life… that will include another little one in two short months!
