This session was my first time ever visiting Fredericksburg! I’ve heard so much about the city over the years but had never actually been there (well, except on the highway going to Ikea and DC!). It may sound intimidating to shoot at a location sight unseen, but honestly it doesn’t worry me that much. Part of doing this for so many years means I can make just about any outdoor location seem amazing– it’s all about the angles and the lighting. Beforehand I check with the client to see where they’d like to do pictures, then I check with photographers local to that area for some recommendations. I then head to Google Maps to see what I’m working with, and finally to Google Images to see what others have done before me. Between all those, I felt really confident going into Megan + Kyle’s engagement session!
I took a quick walk around the block when I first got there and found so many great spots I couldn’t even hardly decide where to start! Megan also brought some perfect props– a sign with their names and wedding date, as well as some Starbucks cups that her friend (and Starbucks co-worker) did some gorgeous hand-lettering on! We all clicked right away (and I was straight off of an Ikea high, lol!), and the sunlight was absolutely in our corner. I can’t wait for their wedding next year!
