Kim + Derrick hold very special places in our hearts.  We met Derrick right away when we moved here 6 years ago.  A few months after we moved, we found our single car family as a zero car family.  I remember sitting in a car repair shop and seeing 2 Corinthians 5:7 written out on a door mat.  “Walk by faith, not by sight.”  I’ll be honest, things were falling apart and here we were 8 hours from family and not sure where to turn.  But then a friend let us borrow her car, and then Derrick and another friend absolutely came to our rescue to help us get our old junky car back on the road.  To say they bent over backwards for us is an understatement.  He quickly became one of our closest friends.

Then last year he introduced us to Kim.  My words to Derrick after meeting her were, “You need to propose immediately.”  😀  I was kind of joking, but it was clear that they were perfect together.  She loved and appreciated his quirks, and he pretty much couldn’t get over the amazing person she is.  We were honored to be there when he proposed this spring, and so glad that we were open on their wedding date!

They got married at The Settlement at Powhatan Creek in Williamsburg, VA.  Kim used Front Porch Flower Co. for her bouquet and you might recognize her hair and make-up stylist– Julia (West) Thayer, one of our recent brides!  And I’d be amiss if I didn’t note that they used Nothing Bundt Cakes for their wedding cake, and JJ handled the amazing karaoke on the dance floor!  Fowler Studios covered photo + video, and you can also check out their engagement session here!
